James Bessen is a Lecturer at Boston University Law School and a Fellow of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard. Before joining the academy, he was a founder of Bestinfo, a pioneering desktop publishing software company. His research on software patents with Eric Maskin and Robert Hunt has been influential in both the U.S. and Europe. His previous book, Patent Failure: How Judges, Bureaucrats, and Lawyers Put Innovators at Risk, was published by Princeton University Press in 2008.
